Conservation in the Philippines is always an uphill climb as its agenda is often found in the bottom of the priority pile of most politicians and local chief executives. The shared sentiment amongst development workers is that more than half the battle is won when the political system shifts favor towards the environment with well thought and managed programs for the people and the resources depended on. While the scenario may still be a dream, PRRCFI persists in the search of good practices and Danjugan Island is its best. Though beset with many challenges still, the island shows how conservation ought to be done in this country when, in a microcosm, a small jewel in the Sulu Sea is saved for future generations.
